Dr. Yao Sodahlon Associate Director, Lymphatic Filariasis
Before Dr. Yao Sodahlon joined the Mectizan Donation Program, he worked for over ten years in the ministry of health of Togo as director of the Division of Clinical Laboratories (health system policy and development) and contributed to various communicable disease control programs (Malaria, TB, schistosomiasis and lymphatic filariasis [LF]). He also taught clinical parasitology at the Lome school of medicine and has been a consultant for WHO since 2000 supporting African countries in malaria drug monitoring and policy making. His role with the Mectizan Donation Program includes managing the donation of Mectizan and albendazole for LF elimination in African countries and Yemen where onchocerciasis is co-endemic. He will also provide oversight and surveillance of serious adverse events following mass treatment with Mectizan and albendazole for onchocerciasis and LF treatments as well as develop and implement research studies to investigate operational issues. Yao Sodahlon received his M.D. in 1989 from University of Lome, Togo, his residency diploma of Clinical pathology in 1995 from Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg (France) and his Masters degree in international health in 2003 from Victor Segalen University of Bordeaux (France).
