Center for Neglected Tropical Diseases
LSTM’s Centre for Neglected Tropical Diseases (CNTD) is a major implementing partner of UKAID’s investment into the Global NTD Programme and has delivered the DFID funded LF Elimination Programme since 2009.
CNTD provides strategic and technical support to national programmes in its 12 project countries to carry out their NTD programmes and has provided preventive chemotherapy treatments for LF to over 200 million people since 2009.
CNTD has close relationships with governments and works through the structures and staff of Ministries of Health (MoH), providing programme and financial co-ordination to strengthen systems and reinforce procedures for management, transparency, accountability and sustainability.
With funding from DFID, End Fund and GSK, the Centre’s remit has expanded from mapping the diseases and the delivery of treatments, to the provision of care for patients suffering from the disease and building capacity within ministries of health and national laboratories. CNTD supports national programmes under the following thematic areas:
- Mass Drug Administration (MDA)
- Morbidity Management & Disability Prevention (MMDP)
- Monitoring & Evaluation (M & E)
- Health System Strengthening
- Operational Research
