Progress in eliminating onchocerciasis in the WHO Region of the Americas: Report from the InterAmerican Conference on Onchocerciasis in Oaxaca, Mexico 1996

The sixth meeting of the IACO reported encouraging results of community-based treatment with the oral microfilaricidal drug ivermectin (Mectizan®), provided free of charge by its manufacturer, which have lent new credibility to efforts to eliminate onchocerciasis as a public health problem in the Americas by the year 2007. (WHO, 1997)
