In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic continued to affect administrative processes and resources for MDA in both the Brazil Amazonas Focus and the Venezuela South Focus. Amazonas failed to reach its semiannual treatment goal in both rounds in 2021 (72% of its eligible population during the first and 64% during the second), and the South Focus failed in the first treatment round (47%) but succeeded in the second (88%).
