This year we’re celebrating 5 billion Mectizan treatments donated to end river blindness and lymphatic filariasis. The bold donation of Mectizan “as much as needed, for as long as needed” was matched with equally bold ambition. Thanks to the hard work of our country partners and NGO supporters, the original goal of controlling the diseases has now shifted to elimination—with more countries achieving the goals with each passing year.
