In 2025, MDP marked the milestone of 5 billion treatments donated by Merck& Co., Inc.*—”as much as needed, for as long as needed”—for the elimination of river blindness. The donation was later expanded to cover elimination of lymphatic filariasis (LF) in certain settings. This milestone was a compelling opportunity to reflect on the donation’s dramatic impact, acknowledge the hard work of partners, and honor the commitment of the people who have driven such significant progress over the past 38 years.
