Dr. Maggie Baker, Associate Professor
Professor Baker is Associate Professor of Global Health at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, with over two decades of expertise in infectious disease control focusing on neglected tropical diseases. She has worked in over 20 countries, including five years embedded in the Ministries of Health of Vanuatu and the Dominican Republic, and served for a decade on USAID’s NTD programs, most recently as the Technical Director of Act to End NTDs | East.
Professor Baker’s research aims to strengthen the delivery of infectious disease control and ensure sustainability with a focus on how disease programs can be adapted to reach marginalized populations, and how to integrate disease control into national health systems. She regularly presents at international conferences, publishes in leading global health journals, and works to translate research into actionable policy and program guidance. Her research has contributed to the development of WHO guidelines, and to policy and practice at national ministries of health, donor organizations, and NGOs. She also serves on the editorial boards of International Health and PLoS NTDs.
Professor Baker holds a PhD from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
